During the pandemics of the SARS-CoV-2, the negationism was used to hide important facts that are essential to people’s health, such as the results of scientific researches and the importance of the vaccination. This was one of the topics during the last discussion table of the CoronaVac Symposium, during the afternoon of this Thursday (9).

For the sanitary doctor and ex-president from the National Agency of Sanitary Vigilance (Anvisa), Gonzalo Vecina Neto, the negationism is a way of hiding the results from science that could improve the life of so many people. “Negationism takes from us the opportunity of being healthy and living better. Someone is interested in selling something different, that may be a product, and then it becomes just money. But it can also be an ideology, a way of seeing a world that should not be used”, he affirmed.

The CoronaVac Symposium was also an opportunity to spread the scientific studies realized in different countries to fight against the fake information that is shared on internet and on social media regarding the efficiency and safety of the vaccine from Butantan, which is the most used in the world.

“This symposium demonstrated that CoronaVac is an excellent vaccine, the most used in the world, with 2,3 billion od doses distributed. The vaccine is the most used and produced, especially in the most poor countries”, affirmed the president from Butantan Institute, Dimas Covas.

Another participant at the discussion table was the doctor and communicator Thelma Assis, who has more than six million followers on her social media and a responsibility of always working with the truth.

“It is of extreme importance to guide. When I saw myself with almost six million people following me, I started worrying about being based on scientific articles, in the whole research and work in those almost two years, so I could spread that to people”, she finalized.
