The last discussion table of the CoronaVac Symposium discussed the central themes presented at the international online event, realized from 7th to 9th of December, and brought discussions regarding the next steps in the fight against the pandemics in Brazil and in the World. The discussion was held this Wednesday (9), after the enclosure of the scientific encounter.
The discussion counted with the presence of the president of Butantan Institute, Dimas Covas; the doctor and ex-president of the National Agency of Sanitary Vigilance (Anvisa), Gonzalo Vecina Neto; the television commentator from TV Cultura and entertainment presenter Marcelo Tas; the doctor and communicator Thelma Assis.
The participants discussed the course of the immunization against Covid-19, the fight against negationism, the necessity of the vaccine passport, the protection of children and the critical points of the pandemics.
The doctor Thelma Assis emphasized that “science can not be conniving with negationism”. Gonzalo Vecina reinforced that a lot of lives could have been saved and, without the vaccinal coverage, the world won’t be free of the pandemics. Dimas demonstrated his gratitude for the participation of the speakers and to the organization of the event, which led information to people from various countries.
In the evaluation of Marcelo Tas, people are still not prepared for a scenario where a great flow of information about a specific topic spreads through the internet in an accelerated way and in a very short period of time, which favors the origination of fake news. In his opinion, the disinformation harmed as much as the virus. “The quality information suffers even more, we must fight to change that reality”.
The businesswoman Luiza Trajano also took part, leaving a recorded commentary regarding the subject. Check it on the video below.
