Rui Curi
President-Director of Fundação Butantan

Full professor at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences until December 2016. Known for his pioneering work on immune cell glutamine metabolism and control of leukocyte functions. Visiting Fellow at the Biochemistry Department and Dunn School of Pathology (Oxford), Faculté de Mèdicine de Bruxelas (Belgium), Department of Medicine-USUHS and NIH (Bethesda).  Recipient of the Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and of the Scopus/CAPES Award for his scientific achievements. Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of the Science Academy of the State of São Paulo.

Raul Machado-Neto
Director of Institutional Strategy at Instituto Butantan

Professor Raul Machado-Neto graduated in Agriculture from the University of São Paulo where he worked and concluded his academic trajectory as full Professor of Animal Science in 2019. He obtained his PhD from the University of Illinois. Holds the position of Professor at Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture of the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP) since 1974. His teaching and research activities have related to animal physiology with focus on cell integrity. He was awarded the Scientific Merit Medal by the State of São Paulo Governor in 2001. He has also dedicated himself to numerous academic administrative roles at USP having been a member of the University’s Board, Head of the Zoology Department, President of the Research Committee and Vice Dean at ESALQ/USP. He was also the Coordinator of the Interamerican Bank of Development Program ESALQ/USP, USP Coordinator of CNPq Scholarship for Undergraduate Research Students, President of USP Undergraduate Research Program and of USP Call Technology Academic Committee.  Deputy Provost for Research for ten years, Assistant to the Prorector's Graduate College Office and Prorector's Research Office. In recent years, he held the positions of USP Vice-President for International Relations, President of USP International Agency.

Paulo Luiz Capelotto
Butantan´s Legal Director

Holding an undergraduate and graduate degree in Law from the Mackenzie University, Paulo has also a Master´s in International Law and Business from Stetson University, USA. Working in the Attorney General´s Office of the State of São Paulo for 32 years, Paulo´s career as a prosecutor led him to the State Secretary of Education where he was Chief of Legal Counsel and then became President of the first Permanent Procedural Unit (UPP) of the Health Department of the State of São Paulo. He had large participation in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) project of education together with the World Bank Secretariat for Planning and Regional Development. In 2013, Paulo assumed the position of Director of Administration and Finance at Invest São Paulo, for the Promotion of Investment and Competitiveness.

Reinaldo Noboru Sato
Superintendent of Fundação Butantan

Graduated in Business Administration from PUC-SP, with a bachelor's degree in Law from the Faculdade Integradas de Guarulhos, and a Post-Graduation in Health Management from the Santa Casa de São Paulo Medical School, Reinaldo Sato has been a civil servant since 1980 and has held various important positions at the São Paulo State Health Secretariat, such as Coordinator, Departmental Technical Director, Cabinet Technical Advisor, Technical Director, Manager of the State Health Fund, Manager of Budget and Finance,  Manager of Pharmaceutical Assistance, Chief of Staff of the São Paulo State Health Secretariat.

Gilberto Guedes de Pádua
Executive Associate Assistant

Graduated in Business Administration from the University Center Moura Lacerda and in Hospital Administration from the University of Ribeirão Preto.
Specialist in Public Health from the USP School of Medicine in Ribeirão Preto and Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence from the University of Rio de Janeiro. 
Founder of the Hemocentro Foundation of Ribeirão Preto, was Administrative Director and Management Coordinator of the Institution. Servant of the Clinical Hospital of Ribeirão Preto, he stood out in several areas, being a member of the State Planning Commission of Hemo-Rede SP and coordinator of the Budget Planning Group for Evaluation and Performance of the Clinical Hospital of Ribeirão Preto.
